What is a moss wall?
Moss walls come in all imaginable shapes and sizes, but what is it really? A moss wall is a surface covered with – how could it be otherwise – moss that is then attached to a wooden board. Moss is a small green plant that usually grows in damp places such as on damp forest floor, against a tree bark or in between (sidewalk) tiles. Moss, like larger plants, has stems and leaves. These attach to the surface on which the moss grows with small roots. One difference from other plants, however, is that these root structures are not used for nutrient absorption.
In addition, certain mosses are partly composed of fungi. These are the so-called lichens. These are symbiotic forms of two or more life forms, usually a fungus and an alga complementing each other.
A wide variety of mosses exist, and most of them are suitable for use as moss walls. When a particular species of moss is used as a green wall, it is treated with environmentally friendly products. This may be polymer or glycerin. The purpose of this is to make the moss wall suitable for placement in an indoor space. After impregnation, the moss wall is permanently green, soft and dirt-resistant.

Maintenance is similar to maintaining an artificial plant, and thus very easy! It requires little light and no water at all. In addition, a moss wall remains virtually dust-free. Furthermore, a moss wall also has sound-absorbing and fire-retardant properties.

The applications of a green wall with moss are very extensive. A moss panel can be attached both to the wall and to the ceiling, i.e. also horizontally. But you can also cover separate parts with it, such as columns and pillars, or use the moss wall as a partition wall.
